Hello! This is a new page where I’m going to highlight stuff I’m currently into other than books – though I will still mention them of course. I consume so much other stuff besides books and it’s nice to talk about it a bit. Would love to hear from you guys too, what are you in to, would you want to read blog posts from me about this other stuff? I do have my other blog The Postscript which has been on a break for a while, so I could write over there? Anyway here is the stuff for this month…
Currently reading… Little by Edward Carey (plus the shortlist for the Young Writer of the Year Award 2018!). It’s a really immersive novel, narrated by the young woman who grew up to become Madame Tussaud (she of wax fame). Loving it so far!
Currently listening to… My Dad Wrote A Porno, which continues to be weird and excellent as ever.
… also Post Malone, who I decided to listen to after seeing his cover of Return of the Mack on the Hilarity for Charity Netflix special (definitely worth watching!), and though it’s not my usual thing I am just really getting into it at the moment. So far Better Now, Blame It On Me and Otherside are standouts for me.
Plus Pixies, Weezer, Hole – old faves.
Currently watching… Black Sails on Amazon Prime – currently on season three and loving the drama to be honest. Toby Stephens is just amazing, and I’m glad Billy Bones came back because he’s the only hot one, and he’s a good character – and Silver is now getting so much more interesting!
I also just finished watching Freaks and Geeks after dragging it out because there are only 18 episodes and I didn’t want to get to the end. It’s set in 1980 but honestly feels quite a lot like 1999/2000 which is when it was made. The clothes look basically the same? It’s such a refreshing and genuinely brilliant ‘teen’ show, plus how can you not love this cast… I think my faves are Bill (for pure brilliance), and Ken (for sarcasm and being played by my celebrity boyfriend Seth Rogen).
Also watching American Horror Story: Apocalypse on NowTV, though I am having so many mixed feelings about this season! It’s kind of great, but also kind of a mess… but I’m only like 4 episodes in, so I’ve got to just go with it and see what happens. I just finished watching the Netflix adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House, which as a Shirley Jackson fan I have some OPINIONS and THOUGHTS about, but I might have to save that for another post – if you guys would want to read that?? [Update! I wrote about Haunting here. Enjoy.]
